About the Division
The DepEd, Division of Aklan started its operation under the supervision of the Bureau of Education, Division of Capiz which was then headed by the Assistant to the Superintendent as In-Charge of Aklan. It was separated from the Division of Capiz on March 16, 1958 with Mr. Catalino Pestaño as the first Schools Division Superintendent.
The Division of Aklan was first organized with 17 districts, each headed by a District Supervisor. Setting the pace for the Division of Aklan’s progress is its dynamic leadership of Schools Division Superintendent and DepED Aklan family members. Presently, it is composed of 19 districts, 320 public elementary schools, 80 public secondary schools and 87 private schools (Preschool, Elementary and Secondary), managed and supervised by Dr. Jesse Macavinta Gomez, CESO V, Schools Division Superintendent. It is housed within the compound of Kalibo Elementary School, Arch. Gabriel M. Reyes Street, Kalibo, Aklan.
